As a missionary I have really gained an even stronger love for the scriptures. I never want to stop reading them once I start. I have learned so much and gained so much! The scriptures really are so powerful. As missionaries we are also encouraged to read the words of the modern prophets. I know mom always would study the Ensign, but I never really have before. I have been reading and studying all the talks from last conference again before this next conference and it amazes me the power and strength we can receive from our leaders. This stuff is scripture... FOR US!! Wow right!? It has helped me a lot also to know how to help my investigators here as well.
Especially Dafina- she doesn't believe in Christ. We've been working with her trying to do everything possible to help her gain faith and recognize answers to her prayers, but it is really hard. She loves coming and she reads and prays, but has a lot of doubts. Last time she said that the plan of salvation maybe is just "to good to be true." I just know her faith will come and that everything rely's on that faith in Christ. She is kinda tricky. She reads The Book of Mormon like a school/history book and analyzes everything!! She is really smart and studying computer science. Lots of math. However, she loves the Liahona! She loves reading it, which is kinda weird because it talks and testifies of Christ in every talk. I guess it just hasn't clicked yet. She has never been any kind of religious before and so this is her first experience. I think their are a lot of factors with her just not quite understanding or believing, but she always says she Hope's
to believe, she hopes to receive an answer to her prayers, she hopes Christ is her Savior, that she should get baptised, but won't do it until she knows. We taught her that Hope is Faith, but she's not sure about that. Anyway, I'm just so glad that she keeps trying, she loves coming, and so we'll always invite her and keep helping her come unto Christ. Even if it does take... forever. ha.
I love you all! Glad your all doing so great! and that Spring is coming. It has been coming here also until the last couple days, it got really cold again. I'm sure it will be warm again soon though. I can't believe it is already Easter time. I've almost been gone for 2 whole semesters and I just can't even believe it. Makes me want to work even harder because my time is already dwindling. Always remember that Jesus is the Christ! and I hope you are all working hard to love so that Christ wouldn't ever have to ask you like Paul, "do you love me?" He will already know by your actions. Me dashuri,
Motra Hoover
